Lionel Messi or his fullname Lionel Andress Messi was born on 24 June 1987, in Santa Fe, Argentina. Messi began playing football since young age, and started his career as a professional football player when he joined Newell’s Old Boys from 1995 until 2000. 

Messi life is hard at the early stage. At the age of 8, he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency. That forced him to take an injection every night. However, it has strengthens his ambition to become a professional football player.  At the age of 13, Messi decided try his luck with Barcelona. He went for Barcelona trial. The trial went well, and he then joined Barca U14. 

At the age of 16, he made his first debut in Barca first team during the friendly match against Porto. On October 16, 2004, Messi made his first appearance in an official match against Espanyol at the Olympic Stadium. Barcelona wins 1-0 in that derby match. The good runs continued when he become the youngest player to score for Barcelona when he scored against Albacete when he was only 17. Unfortunately, this record was eventually beaten by Bojan.   

Since then, Messi has become a regular player in Barcelona first team. His creativity in the field, great techniques, fast speed and sharp finishing made him a dangerous player for opponent team. To date, messi has helped Barcelona team wins 13 titles including La Liga (4), Spanish Super Cup (4), Champions League (2), Copa del Rey (1), World Club Cup (1), and European Club Cup (1). He also helped his National Team Argentina wins Under-20 World Cup (2004) and Gold Medal in Olympic Beijing (2008). 

His contributions to Barcelona, and Argentina has helped him to wins several awards such as FIFA World Player (2009), and Ballon D’Or (2009, 2010).
